Sensex extends rebound, ends 196 points higher

The Indian markets closed the day on a positive note taking cues from its global peers. All the sectoral and broader indices closed the day in green. The main gainers for the day are Metal and Realty indices gaining more than three and half percentage points. The FMCG index was next to follow with a gain of more than two percentage points. The Sensex closed the day in green gaining 196.66 points or 1.18 percentage points to close at 16,863.06. Nifty ends the day at 5066.55 gaining 63.45 points or 1.27 percentage points. Market breadth was positive with 1,923 advances against 892 declines on BSE. On the global front, European stocks rose for a third day, extending the Stoxx Europe 600 Index’s weekly gain, after U.S. shares had the biggest rally in almost three weeks. Asian equities advanced, while U.S. index futures fluctuated.
