by admin on April 7, 2010

The Markets remained volatile throughout the day as it touched and crossed the 18,000 mark after two years but could not sustain at that levels. The markets kept oscillating between the red and green space throughout the day to close flat in green. Auto, Oil & Gas and Realty indices were the main contributors to the gain that provided some support to the markets. The Banking, Metal and Consumer Durables indices were the main draggers for the day. The Sensex closed the day in green gaining 28.65 points or 0.16 percentage points to close at 17,970.02. Nifty ended the day at 5374.65 gaining 8.65 points or 0.16 percentage points. Market breadth was positive with 1,669 advances against 1,216 declines on BSE. On the global front European stocks fluctuated near an 18-month high for the Stoxx Europe 600 Index as a retreat among basicresource producers offset gains by retailers. Asian shares advanced and U.S. index futures fell.
