Videocon Industries is up 72% in last 1 month. The company is buzzing on back of its DTH launch which is expected to roll out in next 7-10 days. It had been delaying launch since many months. The company is targeting 1.5 million subscribers initially. It will roll out in North first especially Punjab then it will move southwards to Karnataka by Oct-Nov. It sees advantage in DTH due to integration with TV unit segment. It is introducing new LCD TVs with inbuilt STBs. The new LCD TVs to cost around Rs 8,000/piece. Reports say that company is investing Rs 500-600 crore initially. The company is targeting 1 crore subscribers in 6 years. It could look to invest further in DTH business. It might be on the hunt for foreign investment as well. The facility is only available for internal employees at present. The company also has a crude & natural gas business. It could see higher profits with crude at new highs. Videocon Industries has allotted 1.1 crore warrants to Bennett, Coleman & Co. The warrants to raise Rs 200 crore with conversion of 18 months.
