Mkts this week: Sensex up 2.5%, Nifty up 1.5%; shipping space shines; Aban Offshore, Dolphin Offshore up 34%
This week, Sensex ended up 2.5% while Nifty ended up 1.5%. CNX Midcap Index ended up 2%, BSE Small Cap Index ended up 0.1% and Nifty Junior ended up 4%.
Major gainers were Nalco, up 15%, Ranbaxy Labs, up 13%, Siemens, up 10.5%, Idea Cellular, up 9.5%, DLF, up 7.5%, Reliance Infra, up 6.8%. Major losers were Cairn India, down 8%, ONGC, down 7.8% and Tata Communication, down 5.5%.In Banking space, HDFC ended up 12%, ICICI Bank was up 10.5%, Axis Bank, PNB were up 8.8% each. BSE IT Index ended up 4.5%, in which Wipro was up 6.5% and Infosys was up 5%. In shipping space, Aban Offshore, Dolphin Offshore ended up 34% while Essar Shipping ended up 25%.
Other major gainers were JK Lakshmi Cements, Patni Computers, up 22%, Yes Bank, Jindal Saw, Kotak Mahindra Bank, up 18%. Other major losers were Bhushan Steel, down 18%, Essar Oil, down 15% and TVS Motor, down 12%
