Asian markets were climbing this Thursday, lifting the regional benchmark index to the highest in more than three months, as a US Federal Reserve survey stoked optimism that the world’s largest economy is recovering.
China’s Shanghai Composite was up 0.28% or 7.08 points at 2,543.13. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose 0.55% or 85.51 points at 15,755.13. Japan’s Nikkei gained 2.90% or 253.43 points at 8,996.39. South Korea’s Seoul Composite added 2.12% or 28.28 points at 1,361.37. Taiwan’s Taiwan Weighted surged 2.30% or 135.06 points at 6,010.25. However, Singapore’s Straits Times was down 0.11% or 2.08 points at 1,903.91.
