The terror war on Mumbai was on the verge of ending tonight with security forces securing the 5-star Oberoi hotel and a Jewish Centre but a lone gunman continued to hold out inside the Taj hotel at the end of pitched combat that left 30 hostages dead.
At the Centre, a residential complex housing a prayer hall, commandos were air dropped from helicopters in first such operation in urban India the security forces spent the entire day to clear it. Two terrorists were killed but not before five of the hostages were eliminated by them.
A clean-up operation was still on late tonight at the Centre where the victims reportedly included the Rabbi and his wife.
The might of the Indian security forces had to be brought in to rid these landmarks in the country’s financial capital of the heavily-armed suspected Pakistani terrorists who seized the two hotels and the Centre on Wednesday night, but the costs were heavy on both sides.
When the Oberoi was cleared of the terrorists this afternoon, as many as 30 hostages were found dead raising the toll in the worst terrorist strike against India to over 160 including 16 security personnel. 11 terrorists were also eliminated, one was captured and one, possibly two, were still inside the Taj.PTI

Politicians or leaders responsible for any terror attack should not resign but they should be thrown out of power-a punishment. They should be banned for holding any govt. position/post for atleast 10years. They should not be allowed to contest any election for two terms and should be allowed only after being satisfied with their performance and commitment. Fix responsibility, and against serious charges moneytary and criminal charges against the responsible govt. or leadership. Tought stand to prevent terrorism is the need of today.

Every state must select 50 people from each state and this committee is selected out of retired distinguished members of society from different field and they should be working full time. Their main job is to do background check of each candidate what is their qualification, what is financial status, what is their social records, why they want to stand for election, what is their views on progress of this country. Once this committed go through background of each candidate from different party. Then this committee has power to recommend the right candidate for each party and then such candidate can take part in election on behalf of their party. If we do then we can find right candidate, there is checking on each candidate. This is the only remedy for better progress of India. If we do not do this then what we talk is verbalized action on the changing circumstances and it gives us intellectual satisfaction of doing something productive but in reality it is an illusion.
